How the Association Began

We are the result of a group called "Brain Gain." In 2006, the town of Ferdinand began exploring ways to promote and improve their community. Various committees were formed to study topics like youth, business, residential growth, and community development. One committee — our committee — was asked to study why people leave our community and/or to attract people to come to live in Ferdinand. In other words, what kinds of opportunities and/or jobs do we need to attract someone to move here, work, here, raise their kids here?

In order to know the future, you must understand your past, which brought us to ask, "What do FP graduates do and why not here?" This led us to the fact that we do not know what FP graduates are doing in the world! Anecdotally, we knew that some where in college, in the military, or in the workforce, but who and where?

And so the idea was born to create a group — the FP Alumni Association — which would allow us to keep track of each other and to use the information to guide our future endeavors and efforts.
